Council then nominated and elected Paul Garcia as mayor pro tem, the position that presides over meetings when the mayor is unavailable; that motion passed on a verbal roll call with unanimous aye votes.
Council members acknowledged Hudson’s service and noted he is undergoing cancer treatment and in attendance at the meeting.
