Staff brief board on burial assistance, emergency general assistance, SNAP projections and Child Abuse Prevention Month activities

Financial Assistance Supervisor I Jon Street presented the Polk County burial expenses report to the board and shared the Polk County Burial Policy/Application for Funeral Cost Assistance as well as comparative material from Minnesota county funeral policies.
Street also provided an overview of Emergency General Assistance program guidelines used in Polk County. Financial Assistance Supervisor II LeAnn Holte presented the Income Maintenance (IM) monthly board report and reviewed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program materials, including information labeled "Protect SNAP Cost Shifts for Minnesota in 2026–2027," a SNAP quality‑control overview and projected SNAP spending for the state in 2026–2027. Social Services Supervisor Alicia Kieckbusch told the board that April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and that Polk County Social Services will partner with the Polk Family Resource Center to offer take‑and‑bake pizzas on May 6 as part of outreach activities.
