County sets public hearings for tax-abatement applications on two new Bingham Lake houses

The Cottonwood County Board on May 5 scheduled public hearings for proposed tax abatements tied to two new single-family Home Initiative applications on Bingham Lake.
Windom EDA Director Sonja Wilt said applications were received from James Anderson (1138 Bingham Lake Drive) and Dustin and Maria Thom (1142 Bingham Lake Drive). The board adopted Resolution 26-05-05 to call a hearing for the Anderson property (motion by Kevin Stevens; Commissioner Larry Anderson recorded as abstaining on the roll call) and adopted Resolution 26-05-05A to call a hearing for the Thom property (motion by Donna Gravley, second by Larry Anderson).
County Assessor David Grev told the board there appears to be confusion about what constitutes the start of construction under the Home Initiative program. The board directed the Assessor and the Auditor/Treasurer to review program guidelines and return with revisions or clarifications for board approval.
