BEA president warns cuts to academic coaches and Title interventionists could weaken services

"The loss of these positions does raise concern on how this level of instructional support will continue moving forward," she said. Tracy also said Title interventionists are being reduced and that some buildings are left with only one interventionist, increasing classroom teacher responsibilities for Tier 2 and Tier 3 students.
Tracy asked the administration and board to reconsider the cuts so teachers can continue to meet the needs of students from G&T through Tier 3. The administration did not make a motion to reverse the changes during the meeting; the comment was recorded for board consideration.
