Bayonne board praises students as superintendent highlights dual-enrollment success; routine items approved

Bayonne Board of Education members opened their evening by congratulating students who displayed artwork and science projects and by thanking teachers and staff who supported the showcase.
Superintendent Mr. Nies told the board the district has now graduated a third class through its partnership with Hudson County Community College, noting that some Bayonne High School students "are starting college with 60 college credits." He called the outcome "absolutely incredible" and credited board support and teachers for the program's success.
During the regular meeting the board moved and approved routine items including the minutes and the superintendent's report (items A1–A13 and B1–B24). The business administrator's report covering items C1–C11 was also approved by roll call. President Desmond recorded an abstention on a single page item and voted yes on the remaining items.
The board also heard a student representative report summarizing recent activities — Culture Day, a spring dance and student government outreach — and a student request for up to $1,800 to fund four students to attend the New Jersey Association of Student Council leadership training.
The meeting adjourned at 6:19 p.m.
