Plan Commission backs Autobahn Country Club track addition, cites Watershed Protection compliance

The Plan Commission on May 21 recommended City Council approve a Cedar Creek Watershed Protection Area Special Use Permit and an amendment to the Autobahn Country Club Master Development Plan to allow a North Track addition and paddock expansion.

Staff said the property is subject to Ordinance No. 15,820 — which requires special use approval for development within the designated watershed protection areas — and that the proposed asphalt track expansion would not be located within the protection area. Staff noted engineering plans address drainage, soil erosion and sediment control and that about 0.25 acre of trees would be removed to install a storm outfall; those trees would be revegetated as required by the ordinance. "Staff supports the request because they are consistent with the existing uses at the facility and finds that the petitioner has adequately addressed the requirements for development of a lot containing Cedar Creek Watershed Protection Area," a staff member said.

Attorney David Silverman, representing the petitioners, said he and the Autobahn representatives agreed with the staff report and asked the commission to recommend approval. Commissioners moved, seconded and voted to forward the special use permit and master plan amendment to City Council with a recommendation for approval.

The referral means the petitioners may seek final approvals and subsequent permits from City Council; staff materials and engineering plans attached to the record describe required erosion controls and revegetation measures.
