Pocahontas County approves $579,063.97 in claims, signs CASI contract and OKs manure plans

The Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors approved claims totaling $579,063.97 at its May 12 meeting and took several administrative contract and reporting actions.
Supervisor Peter Seehusen moved and Clarence Siepker seconded approval of the claims register, which lists payments to a range of vendors including Mid Co Machinery ($146,500.00), Bailey Nurseries ($26,755.69), New Way Ford ($24,225.29) and Poca Community Hospital ($42,985.62). The motion passed unanimously.
The board also approved and signed a three-year agreement with CASI for $4,450 per year (motion by Siepker, seconded by Kyle Smith) and accepted the county recorder’s monthly report of fees collected (motion by Seehusen, seconded by Siepker). The board approved two manure management plans: Park Lane Farms, LLC (ID# 61547) with Twin Lakes Environmental Services listed as contact and Dutchland Dairy 6 (ID# 56669) with Extended Ag Services listed as contact (motion by Aden, seconded by Seehusen).
Auditor Nita Hinrickson told the board she had received a thank-you letter from Fonda Hometown Pride and that the group had secured enough funding to start a pickleball court project in May. She also said she had sent an invoice to Humboldt County for payment towards the Mental Health liaison. The board adjourned after brief weekly reports from supervisors.
