The Wauconda Village Board voted to waive competitive bidding and purchase two Ford administrative vehicles from Victor Ford at a staff-recommended total price of $88,821.26, citing availability, warranties and uncertain ordering windows for new 2027 models.
Superintendent Marco told the board the village budgeted $90,000 this fiscal year for two administrative vehicles to replace a 2012 Ford Escape and a 2017 Explorer. He said the selected vehicles each have about 20,000 miles and carry remaining warranties: the 2023 model has bumper-to-bumper coverage until December 2026 and powertrain through December 2028; the 2024 model has bumper-to-bumper through April 27, 2027 and powertrain through April 2029.
"Purchasing through Victor Ford will more quickly meet the needs of the department and support mobile business," Marco said, and staff recommended approving the purchase to meet operational needs and avoid the uncertain ordering lead time for 2027 models.
Trustees moved and seconded to approve the item; a roll call recorded affirmative votes (Trustee Harris, Trustee Shaw, Trustee Stein). The mayor announced the motion carried. No public comment or alternative purchase options were recorded during the meeting.
