Wauconda board backs resolution supporting state "Build Act" housing effort

The Wauconda Village Board voted to approve a resolution supporting state housing legislation known in the meeting as the "Build Act," following a presentation from Administrator Matson at the May 19 meeting. The resolution was approved as part of the consent agenda by roll call.

Administrator Matson told trustees the item was discussed at the May 5 Village Services Committee where village attorney Kelly Ganderski outlined recent state proposals announced by Governor Pritzker. "The Build Act is legislation aimed at increasing residential construction in Illinois. It's intended to increase housing production and improve housing affordability," Matson said.

Matson said the committee recommended passing a resolution supporting the preservation of a municipal housing authority and related local authority provisions affected by the state legislation. The resolution was added to the consent agenda and approved after trustees made a motion and second.

A roll call recorded "Yes" responses from Trustee Howe, Trustee Shaw, Trustee Stein, Trustee Stewart and Trustee Perez; the presiding official announced the motion carried. No further amendments or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.

The resolution was adopted under the consent agenda and will be added to the village record; the board took no separate standalone vote on the item. The meeting proceeded to additional agenda business and adjourned at 6:13 p.m.
