Commissioners approve veteran mural, airport insurance payouts, $5,000 credit-card limit, and routine payroll and claims

The Daviess County Commissioners approved several administrative and consent items during their April 28 meeting.
A resident, Terri Kelso, asked the board to permit a professional painter to create murals of county buildings in public spaces during June; the board approved the request unanimously. The murals would be offered to the county for display in a government building.
Airport Manager Erika Burkemper reported that two airport courtesy vehicles were deemed totaled after March hail damage. The airport requested to keep a 2014 GMC Acadia (the county would receive $3,220 for it) and relinquish a 2003 Impala (offer $2,600). Commissioners approved using the combined $5,900 in insurance proceeds to acquire another SUV courtesy car and to dispose of the older Impala.
Separately, a credit-card request for Lori Hinkle, Assistant Superintendent at West Boggs, asked for a $10,000 limit. Commissioners decided instead to approve a $5,000 limit after questioning the need for the higher amount.
The board also approved payroll on docket 041726 and several claims dockets (Visa 041526; Utility 041626; Claims 043026; Court 050126; Highway 050126) as presented. Motions on these items were recorded as passing unanimously. The meeting adjourned following the consent business, and minutes show the usual attestation by the commissioners and the auditor.
