The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors approved an amended contract for the county engineer that will take effect July 1 and extend for three years.
Board members discussed contract language changes the engineer proposed, including striking certain association references and clarifying that paragraph 7 entitles the engineer to fringe benefits equivalent to secondary-road and transfer-station employees. The contract also includes a termination clause under which the board may end the contract without cause with 30 days' written notice and a 4/5 board vote.
The board moved, seconded and approved the revised contract as discussed.
What it means: the contract formalizes benefit parity and clarifies the board's termination authority; staff said they would finalize the written contract and return it for signing. The engineer indicated he would prepare the amended contract with updated names and dates for board signature.
Next steps: staff will bring the final written contract back to the board for signature and keep one copy for the engineer and one for the auditor.
