The Wasco Police Department presented mid‑month public safety statistics and city staff summarized results from the recent community cleanup.
A lieutenant reported data for May 1–15: 1,047 incidents (502 calls for service and 545 officer‑initiated activities), 247 traffic stops, 95 citations (including 21 for speeding), 97 criminal cases and 42 arrests. He noted a decrease in traffic collisions in the reporting period (three collisions, one involving DUI) and highlighted the department’s community engagement programs such as PAL and a May 29 bicycle and pedestrian safety event.
City staff reported results from the April 25 community cleanup: approximately 17.8 tons of material collected, including about 5 tons of scrap metal/white goods, 1 ton of mattresses, 0.74 tons of waste, 0.77 tons of tires and multiple counts of on‑site trash collections. Councilmembers praised the effort and suggested using utility-bill mailers and other channels to publicize the cleanup’s results and encourage future participation.
No formal action was taken; council thanked staff and volunteers.
