Interim Planning Director Dusting Minchew told the Ware County Board of Commissioners on April 13 that Edward and Andrea Soto-Lucas have requested that 801 S. Augusta Avenue be rezoned from C-2 and C-SDD (Highway Commercial/Special Development District) to MU and MU-SDD (Mixed Use/Special Development District) to allow residential use now while preserving the option to return to commercial use later. Minchew said there was no public support or opposition recorded at the hearing.
Minchew also presented a separate request to rezone portions of parcel 051C0S 029 from LI (Limited Industrial) to C-3 (General Commercial), explaining the county seeks to consolidate split-zoned pieces so single properties share the same zoning designation. No public comments were recorded on that item.
Both rezoning requests were added to the board's regular meeting agenda for further consideration; no final zoning decisions were made at the public hearing.
