Council awards three road maintenance contracts totaling about $693,600

The Farmington City Council approved three road maintenance contracts at Tuesday’s meeting, awarding the lowest responsive bids for overlay work, crack sealing and a specialized surface treatment.
Chad, the city presenter on streets and public works, summarized the results: “C and B was low for 606,000,” and said the city received seven bids for the overlay project. On the crack sealing package he reported, “PEX asphalt received the low bid on that one for $48,000,” and described a proprietary special treatment for which Morgan Pavement submitted the low bid at about $39,596.70.
Council members moved to accept each low bidder in sequence. Amy moved to approve the C and B Striping contract for $606,000 and the council approved the motion. Roger moved and the council approved the Peckham Asphalt contract for $48,000 to be paid from street-maintenance funds. Roger later moved to award the Morgan Pavement contract for approximately $39,596.70; the council approved that motion as well.
Staff said the recommended contractors are experienced vendors the city has used previously and that funding will come from various street-maintenance accounts identified in the packet. Council did not place conditions on award; each contract was approved on the record.
Next steps: Staff will finalize contract documents and return any final contract signatures to the city for execution. Work schedules will be determined by the contractor agreements.
