Warren Township board honors students and retirees, approves routine items and a contracts policy

Student and program recognitions: Miss Simba Taylor and other leaders celebrated the Warren Winds and Winter Guard for multiple state and national finalist placements. The Warren Aquatics Club reported substantial growth: Heather Parsons, the club board president, said the club provides between "750 and 800" swim‑lesson enrollments annually and serves roughly 150 swimmers across lessons and club teams; she said coaches and fundraisers support financial assistance so students can participate. The board also recognized Walker Career Center participant Dakota Braun, who was offered a full‑time position with district transportation after a work‑based learning placement.
Retirees and student showcases: The board recognized a group of retirees representing roughly 740½ years of collective service. Grassy Creek Elementary staff presented CKLA curriculum work and immersive projects, including a Colonial Day and an art showcase that featured approximately 1,576 student art pieces; a second‑grade student described a Conner Prairie field trip that reinforced classroom learning.
Routine governance: The board approved the consent agenda (minutes, financial report, HR work agreements, field trips, gifts and grants, change orders and contracts) by oral roll call (unanimous). The human resources report passed after a separate motion; vote tally recorded six 'yes' votes and one abstention (Lashana). Later, the board approved a policy formalizing parameters for contractual agreements and alignment with district purchasing rules and Indiana code (oral vote: unanimous).
