Board approves long slate of financial and personnel resolutions; several dissenting votes recorded

The Marlboro Township School District board approved a broad set of financial and business resolutions and a lengthy personnel slate during its public meeting, with several roll-call exceptions recorded for specific items. The superintendent presented the financial/business agenda (items 1–27), which included acceptance of the board secretary and treasurer reports, a list of bills and transfers, technology and infrastructure contracts, parental transportation agreements and grants.
During the roll-call vote, members generally voted to approve items 1–26 but recorded specific dissent on the tax-levy item (No. 17) and other limited exceptions; several members abstained from item 27 (appointment of outside counsel for a Title IX matter). For example, one board member announced, "Yes to all; no to 17; and abstain from 27," during the roll call. Another member explicitly voted "no to 17" while others voted yes to the slate. The board then moved on to personnel matters covering retirements, resignations, amended salaries, and an extensive set of curriculum-writing and summer-assignment approvals across grade bands and subjects (items 1–69).
On personnel, board members proposed a few corrections during the read (salary corrections and school assignment corrections), asked clarifying questions about new roles (including a 'data analytics and information systems manager' to manage the state's NJ SLEDs longitudinal data system), and discussed agenda item 58 (AI tools for special-education teachers). Superintendent Malone said the data-analytics role will be funded via internal consolidation rather than a new budget line and explained that the AI tools referenced are staff-facing at present, not student-facing. "It's more on the staff facing side," Malone said, promising a follow-up with specifics.
What comes next: Several board members asked administration to provide more information on AI tools under agenda item 58 and on any corrected personnel entries before final implementation. The board recessed to an executive session for personnel matters after the public business was completed.
