Commissioners reviewed three solid-waste proposals at a June 24 work session but did not award a contract during the meeting.
The bids under consideration were: GFL at $20.00 per month with a $5 charge per tire, Jones Sanitation at $23.50 per month, and Zero Waste at $25.52 per month. County Manager Thomas Weaver told the commission the standard county contract term is one year with an auto‑renewal provision that can extend the contract; he said the list of eligible curb‑service recipients must be validated before final award. "Every county contract is one year; however this one will auto‑renew for three years," Weaver said.
Commissioner Timothy Biddle raised options for replacing or selling the cardboard compactor instead of repairing it, and commissioners discussed operational details such as who qualifies for curbside pickup.
The commission instructed staff to return with a recommendation and any clarifications needed for a vote at a future meeting.
