Audubon County Public Health wins $10,000 vaccination grant; to staff Ragbrai aid stations and offer free water testing

Jotham Arber presented Public Health’s monthly update for March at the April 28 meeting, listing multiple program and grant activities.
Arber said Public Health is developing a home-health-focused program addressing falls and slips and intends to write and submit a grant application for the Parents as Teachers program. Audubon County has been awarded a $10,000 grant to provide vaccinations this fall; Public Health will plan clinics and outreach accordingly.
Public Health staff will be present when RAGBRAI passes through Exira and Guthrie Center to provide assistance as needed, Arber said, and the department encouraged residents to schedule a free water test. No formal motions were required for the update items; the report was provided as informational to the Board.
Separately, in public comment Corey Eberling of APEX (Coyote Willow Wind) said the company will award scholarships to area schools next week and is pursuing local sponsorships, and City of Exira representatives Meg Andersen and Christina Nelson briefed the board on ongoing RAGBRAI planning.
