A Lowe’s representative told the Collier County Code Enforcement Board on May 22 that the company has been working with Collier County planning staff on a site plan and an administrative parking reduction to legalize outdoor storage areas. The representative said an APR application was submitted and that once approved the company intends to resubmit the SDPI site plan, pull building and fence permits, and screen outdoor storage.
County staff told the board the violation had not been abated and recommended fines begin if compliance did not occur. Board members pressed the representative on the pace of permitting and how long the county would take to review an APR; some members criticized two years of back‑and‑forth on related SDPI work but noted Lowe’s has retained counsel and contractors.
After discussion, a board member moved to grant a continuance and the board voted to grant 180 days for Lowe’s to complete permitting and abatement. The motion passed by recorded vote (3 in favor, 1 opposed). Staff will continue to accrue fines while the case remains open; the order requires Lowe’s to notify code enforcement once abatement steps are complete so an investigator can confirm compliance.
