The Coffey County Commission approved multiple road-construction procurements and personnel actions on May 4, 2026.
Commissioner Steve McCurry moved to accept a bid from APAC-Kansas Inc., Shears Division of Emporia, KS, for Hot Mix Asphalt Project A2602-C in the amount of $973,218.40, with funds to be paid from the General Fund–Public Works asphalt line item. The Board also accepted Killough Construction’s bids for Project A2603-C ($1,261,620.00) and Project A2604-C ($702,124.95), the latter to be paid from a combination of the General Fund–Public Works Asphalt line item and the Public Works Special Highway Improvement Fund. All motions passed.
Separately, the Board approved Petterson’s motion to advertise and hire one Equipment Operator for Road & Bridge to fill a vacancy caused by promotion. The Board also approved a motion to solicit formal bids for one hydraulic excavator, with funds to come from the General Fund–Public Works Special Bridge Equipment line item.
