Shelby County deputy DA Ben Fuller addresses Pelham council as candidate for district court judge

Ben Fuller, chief deputy district attorney with the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, used the public comment period on May 21 to describe his prosecutorial background and announce his candidacy for the newly created district court judge seat.
“Any jury that I've ever stood in front of in the DA's office...the things that we stand up here and say aren't proof of anything,” Fuller told the council, saying voters should look for a proven record. He said he has worked in the DA’s office since 2015 (and as a law clerk since 2011), highlighted trial experience in robberies, assaults, capital murder and human trafficking and noted he has been responsible for managing a $3,000,000 budget in the DA’s office.
Fuller stated he remains on the runoff ballot for the June 16 election and asked for the community’s support.
Council members welcomed the visit; no council questioning or formal endorsement occurred during the meeting. Fuller offered to meet with residents afterward for further discussion about the role and responsibilities of the district court judge position.
