Willow Springs recognizes National Police Week and Public Works Week, presents officer awards

The Village of Willow Springs on May 14 read proclamations recognizing May 10–16, 2026, as National Police Week and May 17–23, 2026, as National Public Works Week and presented awards to members of the police department.
President Netemeyer read both proclamations, noted the role of law enforcement and public works professionals in public safety and infrastructure and invited officers and public works staff to join the board in a ceremonial recognition. "To recognize National Police Week 2026 and to honor the service and sacrifice of those law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty," the president said while reading the Police Week proclamation.
The board invited members of the police and public works departments forward for photographs and applause. Lieutenant Juric was asked to join the president to assist with award delivery, and a leadership award was announced for "Lieutenant Michael." The board also acknowledged members of the water commission, including Melanie Kelly, and encouraged public participation in upcoming community events such as a Special Olympics fundraiser and the village Memorial Day ceremony.
Trustees congratulated graduates in the community and reminded residents that the next board meeting is June 11. The meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m.
