During the administrator’s report, Neil described a specialty drainage rehabilitation using an in-situ lining method (a fabric 'tube' impregnated with resin that is pulled through the existing pipe and cured with hot water) to address joint leaks and settled concrete pipe in single-family areas around Ridge Wood Park.
Neil and staff said the project covers roughly one quarter of a mile of older concrete drainage and the contract price is approximately $450,000. The expense will be charged to the board’s drainage and pipe capital budget (object code 50307) and the funds are currently encumbered via a purchase order. Staff said the technique is less disruptive and cheaper than excavating and replacing deep, reinforced concrete pipe.
Board members asked about procurement and budget impact. Staff said the work will use existing piggyback contracts (Shenandoah via Broward College procurement) and that the cost will appear in March financials once invoiced. The project was described as scheduled to take about three weeks in the affected neighborhoods and staff committed to notifying residents in advance.
No formal vote was required; the board received the update and will review the project in upcoming budget discussions.
