Jackson County approves equipment purchases, event agreement and routine financial items

At its Jan. 27 meeting the Jackson County Commissioners' Court approved several equipment purchases, an event agreement, routine financial actions and payroll changes.
Procurement approvals included a refurbished skid mounted sprayer unit for Precinct 2 for $13,789.68 and a used 2016 Belly Dump Trailer for Precinct 2 for $20,500.00. The court approved an agreement allowing the Larry Horton Memorial Foundation to use the county fairgrounds for a BBQ Cook-off scheduled Aug. 13–18, 2026. The court also rejected all bids for the Emulsion, Asphalt 2026 Annual Supply Contract. The Clerk's Notes indicate bids and contract documents are on file where applicable.
Financial and personnel items: The Court approved the Treasurer's Report for December, authorized payment of county and precinct bills and court orders (noting four court orders), and approved payroll changes including an hourly-rate adjustment for Ashanti Jordan, a part-time library employee, to $10.25 effective Jan. 27, 2026. Motions for these actions carried as recorded in the minutes.
Next steps: Departments will proceed with equipment acceptance and payment processing under standard county procurement and accounting procedures. Rejected bids may be reissued or rebid according to county procurement rules.
