House Tourism, Recreation and Economic Development Committee reports four recognition resolutions unanimously

The committee’s chair called up House Resolutions 501 and 507 together and listed Resolutions 509 and 516 under other business. The clerk summarized the measures: HR 501 recognizes May 3–9, 2026, as National Travel and Tourism Week in Pennsylvania; HR 507 recognizes May 2026 as National Bike Month; HR 509 recognizes May 2026 as National Water Safety Month; and HR 516 designates June 1, 2026, as Links Day in Pennsylvania.
A lawmaker on the committee urged members to back HR 501, describing tourism as “an economic driver for communities across our Commonwealth” and saying that in 2024 Pennsylvania’s tourism industry generated nearly $84,000,000,000 in economic impact, supported more than 514,000 jobs and welcomed over 201,000,000 visitors. The chair also noted that Representative Weltling asked members to support HR 507 recognizing National Bike Month.
Representative Cephas, identified as a prime sponsor of HR 516, presented that resolution and described Links Incorporated’s history and community service: founded in 1946 in Philadelphia, Links Incorporated includes more than 17,000 members across 299 chapters and documents more than 950,000 community-service hours annually, the resolution summary said. Cephas asked for an affirmative vote on HR 516 to honor the organization’s work.
With no members rising to oppose the measures, the chair called the roll on HR 501, 507, 509 and 516 together and announced they passed unanimously and will be reported as committed. The committee adjourned.
