Resident raises Taylor Glen HOA maintenance and safety concerns; code enforcement said to be working with management company

During public comment Lindsay Hudson (S9) told the council that residents of the Taylor Glen neighborhood (about 492 homes; she estimated around 2,000 residents) are affected by an HOA decision to stop mowing common areas, producing tall grass around retention ponds and playgrounds. Hudson said the lack of maintenance reduces visibility and poses safety concerns, including sightings of copperhead snakes, and has left playgrounds unusable.
Hudson said she filed an online complaint and that the town's code enforcement officer (Rodney Kyle) responded and encouraged her to come to the meeting. Manager Adam (S7) and code/staff representatives explained the town treats HOA common areas the same as any property owner under the town's nuisance code: the HOA (as the property owner) receives the violation notice; if needed the town can abate and place a lien for recovery.
Staff confirmed a violation notice was sent with a compliance date in May and said they are working with the management company to secure corrections; staff said the town standard is 12 inches before enforcement steps begin and that the town has issued similar notices previously when HOAs are noncompliant. Council members thanked the resident for bringing the matter to the council's attention and praised code enforcement for responsiveness.
