Grant County commissioners approve budget amendments to cover motorgrader payment and transfer $74,481.62 to Extension office

County Auditor Sara Meier requested a $20,000 increase to Road and Bridge Fund—Debt Service Principal and a $20,000 increase to Debt Service—Interest to cover a contract payment for a 2024 motorgrader purchase. Commissioner Marty Meyer moved to approve the amendment; Commissioner Al Roy Hochhalter seconded. The roll call vote was Meyer—aye, Hochhalter—aye, Chairman Alton Zenker—aye, and the motion carried.
Meier also requested a $10,000 amendment to the Prisoner Care Fund after an unexpected extended care cost for one detainee earlier in the year. Hochhalter moved to approve the addition and Meyer seconded; the board voted unanimously in favor.
Separately, the board approved a transfer of $74,481.62 to the County Extension office to cover wages, benefits and contracts. Meyer moved for the transfer and Hochhalter seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
These actions were taken as part of routine business at the April 15 meeting; no public comment or disagreement on these items is recorded in the minutes. The board adjourned at 1:10 p.m. The next scheduled meetings are May 6 and May 21, 2026.
