Board approves capital-improvement plan, allocates $250,000 for phone-system upgrade

The board unanimously approved updates to the district capital-improvement plan on May 1, including a reallocation of funds to support a $250,000 district-wide phone infrastructure upgrade.
District administration said the phone system is old and nearing end-of-life; an updated system would replace handsets and backbone equipment across all schools and offices. Administration told trustees it has begun preliminary outreach and will solicit bids to obtain final pricing, with the goal of initiating installation over the summer so the system is in place by the next school year.
Trustees also discussed projected five-year ending-fund-balance estimates and asked business-services staff to provide an estimated ending fund balance and further clarifications when the CIP returns in June. The capital-improvement-plan motion passed unanimously.
Separately, the board approved continuing its workers’ compensation claim-administration relationship with Canon Cochran Management Services, Inc. (CCMSI) for a three-year period (07/01/2026–06/30/2029). Administration said the renewal was negotiated to lower an initially higher renewal quote after CCMSI’s internal restructuring; the board approved the CCMSI contract unanimously.
