Tooele County Board of Equalization approves 35 property assessment correction notices

The Tooele County Board of Equalization voted May 19 to approve 35 property assessment correction notices after a brief presentation from Alice McCoy, who said the adjustments correct factual errors and reflect some final decisions from the State Tax Commission.
McCoy told the board that the packets before members include a range of changes the assessor’s office identified while finalizing the 2025 Board of Equalization work. “Right now, we have 35 adjustments for you, to review,” McCoy said, describing examples that include properties listed with an incorrect number of bathrooms and parcels incorrectly classified for Greenbelt status.
The board spent a short time on procedure questions before the vote. One council member asked who had initialed various documents; McCoy explained the internal routing of the paperwork, saying the packets cycle through Joy’s office, then the assessor’s office, the treasurer’s office and back to Joy’s office, and that initials on the forms reflect that routing.
Following the presentation, a council member moved to approve the 2026 correction notices “as presented”; a second was given and the chair called for a voice vote. The motion was adopted by voice vote; the board did not record a roll-call tally on the transcript. The meeting also approved minutes from the Dec. 2, 2025 meeting earlier in the session.
The board adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
