Residents welcome Beach Road speed bumps but urge broader safety, parking and litter fixes

Trustees told the board that a seven-day traffic study on Beach Road has begun and that speed bumps will be installed once the study is complete; residents at the public-comment period welcomed the speed bumps but pressed for broader safety and cleanup measures.

At the public-works update trustees said traffic counts were being collected over seven days and that speed bumps would be placed on Beach Road as soon as staff and contractor schedules and weather permit. A trustee asked that the traffic-study results be returned to the board for review.

During public comment a resident said neighbors were "pretty excited" about the speed bumps but asked to see a finalized map of bump locations and asked staff to share it. The resident added the bumps address only part of the neighborhood's problems and urged the board to pursue longer-term solutions, including changing primary park access to Green Bay Road to reduce cut-through traffic. "I just wanna remind everybody that, you know, we are definitely happy for the speed bumps, but the speed bumps are only addressing a portion of the problem out there," the resident said.

Another resident described repeatedly collecting trash and drug paraphernalia from yards and public areas, saying the community needs more persistent cleanup and enforcement. The board reiterated that signage and standard spacing requirements for speed bumps must be met and said staff would provide location details.

Trustees did not vote on any ordinance related to Beach Road tonight; the board directed staff to share the traffic-study results and location map with the board and residents once available.
