Lynn County commissioners approve indigent defense, court-software contracts and EMS uniforms

At their Sept. 22 meeting, the Lynn County Commissioner’s Court unanimously approved an indigent defense contract for FY 2026, awarded software contracts for Justice of the Peace precincts 1 and 4 to LGS, and authorized purchase of four Honor Guard uniforms for LCHD EMS.
The Lynn County Commissioner’s Court on Sept. 22 unanimously approved several contracts and purchases to support county court operations and EMS services.
County Judge Mike Braddock and commissioners met at the Lynn County Courthouse in Tahoka. Judge Reed Filley told the court that attorney Artie Aguilar’s fees in the new indigent defense agreement increased while investigators’ fees remained unchanged. Commissioner Matt Woodley moved to accept the Indigent Defense Contract for District Court for fiscal year 2026; Commissioner Tate Gass seconded the motion and the court voted unanimously to approve it.
Christie Olivan presented bids for new Justice of the Peace software for precincts 1 and 4 and recommended LGS Software as the lowest or best bid. The court approved two contracts: LGS for JP Precinct 1 at $473 per month and LGS for JP Precinct 4 at $213.00 per month. Commissioner Matt Woodley moved both approvals; Commissioner John Hawthorne seconded each motion. All votes were in favor.
The court also approved the purchase of four Honor Guard uniforms for Lynn County Hospital District (LCHD) EMS. Commissioner John Hawthorne made the motion to accept that purchase and Commissioner Tate Gass seconded; the motion carried on a unanimous vote.
County Treasurer Amy Schuknecht presented the county finance report for August 2025 later in the meeting; Commissioner Tate Gass moved and Commissioner Matt Woodley seconded to approve the report, and the court approved it unanimously.
All formal motions recorded at the meeting were passed by unanimous votes. The court adjourned at 10:55 a.m.
