Lynn County approves reciprocal inmate‑housing agreements with Garza County

Lynn County Commissioners on Aug. 25 approved two interlocal inmate‑housing agreements with Garza County that set daily housing rates for inmates.
Sheriff Wanda Mason presented the proposed agreements. Under one agreement, Garza County will house Lynn County inmates at $72.00 per inmate per day (the court record notes a prior 2023 rate of $62.00/day). Under the reciprocal agreement, Lynn County will house Garza County inmates at $70.00 per inmate per day (recorded as $60.00/day in 2023). Commissioner Larry Durham moved to accept the Garza‑to‑Lynn agreement; Commissioner Matt Woodley seconded. Commissioner Tate Gass moved to accept the Lynn‑to‑Garza agreement; Commissioner Durham seconded. Both motions passed with all present voting in favor; Commissioner John Hawthorne was absent.
The agreements were presented as interlocal contracts under the sheriffs’ direction; the court did not attach amendments or additional conditions during the meeting. The county also heard the sheriff’s jail population report showing 36 total inmates in custody.
