The Lynn County Commissioners Court voted unanimously April 13 to adopt an ordinance designating Lynn County a "Sanctuary County for the Unborn." Commissioner Tate Gass moved for adoption and Commissioner John Hawthorne seconded; the motion carried on a 5–0 vote.
The action followed remarks in favor of the measure by Taylor Wood, pastor at First Baptist Church in O'Donnell, and Mark Lee Dickson, founder of the Sanctuary County for the Unborn Initiative. According to the meeting record, both speakers spoke to the proposed ordinance before the court voted to adopt it.
County Judge Mike Braddock presided over the proceeding. No opposing speakers or motions to table the item were recorded in the transcript. The court took the vote during its regular April 13 session in the Lynn County Courthouse in Tahoka.
