Lynn County commissioners approve vehicle sale, vendor contract and finance reports; table SB 8 grant

The Lynn County Commissioners Court on April 27 approved a package of routine financial and administrative items and tabled consideration of a sheriff's grant application pending further information.
Judge Mike Braddock said the court received a single sealed bid of $7,501 for a 1998 Freightliner assigned to Precinct 3; Commissioner Tate Gass moved to accept the bid and Commissioner Larry Durham seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
Commissioners also voted to request unclaimed property capital credits for Lynn County, a routine annual action. Commissioner Matt Woodley moved to make the request and Commissioner John Hawthorne seconded; the court approved the motion unanimously.
Christie Olivan told the court her office is moving to LGS and needed a credit-card processor that integrates with that system. After a demonstration, she recommended CATALIS Payments, LLC. Commissioner Woodley moved to approve a contract with CATALIS; Commissioner Durham seconded and the measure passed on a unanimous vote.
County finance staff presented March 2026's finance report, which the court approved after Commissioner John Hawthorne moved and Commissioner Tate Gass seconded the motion. Amy Schuknecht then read the county's claims and payroll; the court voted unanimously to approve payment.
The court briefly considered applying for the SB 8 Sheriff Immigration LE Grant Program, described in the meeting as a potential two-year grant with a maximum award of $80,000. Sheriff Mason said she would investigate whether the county was required to apply; Commissioner Larry Durham moved to table the item pending more information, a motion seconded by Commissioner John Hawthorne and approved by the full court.
