At the Jan. 13 meeting the Morgan County Commission approved a series of personnel actions and staffing authorizations.
Resolution 26-123 recorded additions and deletions for December 2025 across departments including EMA, environmental services, jail staff, license and probate offices, the sheriff’s office and commission staff. Resolution 26-124 authorized the appropriate elected official or department head to fill specified positions: Assistant County Engineer (Grade E11), Juvenile Probation Officer (Grade A08), Lead Assessment Clerk (Grade A02), Assessment Clerk (Grade A01) and Business Services Coordinator (Grade A05). Resolution 26-125 authorized eliminating one Real Property Appraiser III position and creating/filling one Real Property Appraiser II (Grade A04). Resolution 26-126 authorized the chairman to hire a temporary employee in the commission office.
The commission also approved leaves without pay for named employees: Brittany Mullican (Sheriff’s Office) — Jan. 11 through March 7, 2026; Katrina Dugger (License Commission) — Jan. 5–9, 2026; and Mark Bay and Sabrina Bay (Sheriff’s Office) — Jan. 12–20, 2026. The minutes record these personnel actions as motions that were offered, seconded, and approved unanimously.
One batch of subdivision approvals recorded an abstention by Commissioner Greg Abercrombie; otherwise personnel and staffing votes in the minutes were unanimous.
These actions permit managers and elected officials to proceed with recruitment, classification and temporary staffing as the county’s workload and fiscal year planning continue.
