Brentwood board approves personnel actions, appoints performing-arts coordinator

The Brentwood Union Free School District Board of Education on May 20 approved a slate of personnel actions and formal appointments, including the appointment of Alyssa Sitler as coordinator of performing arts, music, art and media arts.

Board President (chair) read the resolution appointing Sitler to a four-year probationary period beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2030, “at a salary set forth in a negotiated agreement between the Brentwood Union Free School District and the Brentwood Principals and Supervisors organization,” and the motion was moved and carried by voice vote after a second by Brandon Garcia.

The board also authorized the board president to execute an amendment to the salary and benefits agreement dated Sept. 23, 2021, with Rhonda Young, assistant superintendent of special services; the motion was made by Maria Malave and approved by the board.

Other personnel actions approved by voice vote included certificated and non‑certificated personnel reports presented in the board packet for the May 20 meeting. Motions for consent items (including agenda sections B1, B2 and C1) were moved, seconded and recorded as carried with ayes voiced; no roll‑call tallies were listed in the meeting transcript.

The board president also read district enrollment figures presented at the meeting: 17,106 students as of March 27, 2026, and 17,033 students as of April 24, 2026, along with a verbal breakdown of special‑education placements and related services as provided in the packet.

The meeting record shows formal motions, seconds, and voice votes for these items; the chair declared each motion “so moved.”
