Kettering board honors 36 retirees with 946 years of combined service

The Kettering City School District board honored 36 retirees Tuesday whose combined service to the district totals 946 years.
Assistant Superintendent Ken Miller opened the segment and thanked retirees for their years of service to the district. "To our retirees, congratulations on your retirement, and thank you for your years of dedicated service to the Kettering City School District," Miller said. The board called retirees forward to receive gifts and posed for a group photo; refreshments were made available afterward.
The program named dozens of retirees and their years of service. Examples called included Rosemary Backus (Kettering Middle School, 24 years), Beth Frederick (Indian Riffle, 34 years), Liz Goheen (Oak View, 29 years), Laura Heights (Fairmont High School, 30 years), Christine Lawrence (John F. Kennedy Elementary, 36 years), Lisa Sorensen (board office clerical, 33 years) and Jeff McManus (Fairmont High School, teacher, 33 years). The board thanked attendees and noted the retirees’ long-term contributions to students and the community.
The recognition was ceremonial and no district policy or personnel action was taken as part of the presentation.
