The operating committee of the academy approved a $4,182,107 general fund budget for the 2026–27 school year and cleared a slate of routine business during its April meeting.
The committee also approved an overnight field trip for FFA students to attend the Pennsylvania state FFA convention, authorized the sale of surplus equipment on Municibid, ratified a memorandum of understanding with Midland County Regional Police and voted to purchase laptops for the practical nursing program totaling $59,874.45.
The chair presented the budget recommendation and a motion to approve was made and seconded; the committee conducted roll-call votes on each item and approved them. The treasurer’s April 2026 report and the minutes from the April 9, 2026 meeting were approved earlier in the agenda.
On personnel matters, the committee approved hiring Robert E. King as a part‑time custodian at $15.12 per hour, retroactive to April 13, 2026; accepted the resignation of Lauren D. Hicks as administrative director effective June 30, 2026; and appointed Betsy M Casmer as operating committee secretary effective July 1, 2026 with a $1,650 stipend.
The director answered questions about surplus equipment slated for sale, explaining most items were replaced by newer equipment or were no longer fully functional for instructional use; several replacements were funded by grants. On the laptop purchase the chair announced the $59,874.45 recommendation as presented in the agenda.
All recommended motions on the record were moved, seconded and approved by roll-call. The committee set the next operating committee meeting for Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 5 p.m. at the academy and then adjourned.
