Bullhead City Parks and Recreation previews expanded summer camps, aquatics and events

Claire Adams, the Parks and Recreation division’s new recreation manager, told the Bullhead City Parks and Recreation Commission on May 20 that the department will launch an expanded summer lineup and has seen a record number of registrations.
"As we head into the month of June, recreation is officially in full swing," Adams said, announcing that the annual youth summer camp, themed 'Star Spangled Summer,' begins next Tuesday and that registrations had reached about 950. She said swim lessons will begin June 1, and a Junior Lifeguard program starts May 29 with 35 participants registered.
Adams listed other recurring and special events: weekly open-chess nights on Thursdays, a gymnasium tournament on June 6, Dungeons & Dragons sessions June 8 and 22, a horseshoe tournament at Ken Fobarg Park on June 12, and a Senior Splash event on June 26. The Recreation Division also plans a Memorial Day water aerobics class followed by a free family pool party from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Commissioners welcomed Adams to the role and thanked staff. The schedule and programs are set to proceed as announced; no budget changes or formal actions were taken at the meeting.
