Templeton to host kickoff May 28 for Otter River Pool Dam work after $20,000 technical-assistance award

Staff said the award covers consultant services for site reconnaissance, project scoping and preparation of a technical memorandum and a starter-kit guide for next steps. A kickoff meeting with the consultant is scheduled for Thursday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at the Otter River Dam on Crotty Avenue; the commission invited the Community Preservation Committee, the Agricultural Commission, Parks and Recreation and the select board to attend.
A commissioner asked whether that money flows through the town or whether the Alliance hires and pays the consultant directly. Staff explained the grant award comes from the Massachusetts Rivers Alliance, a nonprofit, and that the Alliance contracts the consultant for the phase-1 services; the funds do not pass through town coffers.
