Operations Director Dr. Hopkins updated the board on construction and facilities work across the district. He described branding and a tribute wall for Roosevelt Middle School, noting early graphic proofs and plans to digitize yearbooks and include oral-history videos gathered with alumni.
On Liberty Hill Elementary, Hopkins said interior finishes are near complete but furniture delivery has been delayed and could push the certificate-of-occupancy timeline by about 10 days; inspections for kitchen and mechanical systems are scheduled. He described playground installation, flooring and parking-area progress.
Lake Wylie High School furniture has been delivered and assembled, elevators are operational, terrazzo and athletics work are nearing completion and the stadium field has sod and irrigation in place. Hopkins said some minor delays are possible but the campus is progressing toward ready status this summer.
Hopkins outlined logistics for moving staff and materials: the district ordered over 1,300 crates to help teachers move their classrooms; the tentative target date for moving items into new schools is June 15. He said the district is coordinating routes, truck capacity and custodial staff to execute the plan.
Next steps: Hopkins will provide another construction and move-status update at the board's next meeting and share any revised occupancy or move dates if inspections or furniture schedules change.
