Shorewood trustees back resolutions on transportation funding, infrastructure bank and utility rates

On Resolution 2026-05, urging the governor’s office to adopt a sustainable transportation funding approach, the board moved, seconded and held a roll‑call vote. One trustee recorded an abstention; the resolution passed.
On Resolution 2026-04, endorsing HR 5356 and urging Congress to establish a national infrastructure bank, trustees moved and seconded the measure; the board held a roll‑call vote and the resolution passed with one recorded no vote.
On Resolution 2026-06, the board considered a resolution and accompanying letter asking the Public Service Commission to scrutinize We Energies’ proposed rate increase (the request was discussed in the meeting record as a 14% request). A trustee moved the resolution, it was seconded, and the board carried the motion.
Trustees cited their participation in the Milwaukee Intergovernmental Cooperation Council (ICC) and the Wisconsin League of Municipalities as the channels through which some of the policy requests were brought to the village for consideration. There was limited discussion on alternative funding options in the ICC context; a trustee asked whether other funding options had been discussed and staff said not with regard to the item under consideration.
By approving the resolutions, the village joined other municipalities expressing support or concern to state and federal officials and regulatory bodies; the measures themselves do not change village policy or impose new obligations on the municipality.
