Ascension Parish School Board honors FFA chapters for national awards

The Ascension Parish School Board on May 20 recognized two FFA chapters for national honors and industry‑recognized credentials.
Rhonda Matthews and other school representatives told the board the chapters have earned nationally recognized credentials in areas such as electrical, carpentry, welding and safety, and that two chapters achieved a three‑star national ranking in the national FFA chapter award program. Presenters said that fewer than 10% of chapters attain that distinction and that state gold‑emblem status qualified the chapters to advance to national competitions in June.
Board members and administrators applauded students and staff. One presenter invited staff and families to celebrate the accomplishment and noted administrators and parents who supported students' success.
The recognition was presented during the board's meeting; no formal action was required for the item.
