Clayton County supervisors approve $789,982 in claims, award two roof contracts and authorize trail and finance agreements

On procurement, the board reviewed two bids for a new roof on the Elkader salt/sand shed and accepted Meuser Lumber Company’s low bid of $24,200.00. The motion to award that contract was moved by Supervisor Steve Doeppke and seconded by Supervisor Doug Reimer; the motion carried with unanimous support.
Separately, the board awarded the roof contract for the Garnavillo salt/sand shed to Meuser Lumber Company for $26,200.00 after comparing bids (House to Home Remodeling had bid $38,751.25). The motion was moved by Supervisor Doug Reimer and seconded by Supervisor Steve Doeppke. (The meeting transcript contains a clerical wording error that refers to the Elkader shed in the motion text for this item; the bids listed identify this entry as the Garnavillo shed.)
The supervisors also authorized the chair to sign an inter-departmental agreement between the Conservation Board and the Secondary Roads Department for construction of the Pony Hollow Trail Extension, project No. TAP-R-CO22(99)-8T-22. The authorization was approved by unanimous vote after a motion from Supervisor Doug Reimer and a second from Supervisor Steve Doeppke.
The board authorized the chair to sign a contract with Cost Advisory Service, Inc., to provide county cost-allocation services for fiscal years 2026, 2027 and 2028. That authorization was approved unanimously.
Finally, the supervisors authorized an extension agreement for the Hardin Urban Renewal Area in the City of Postville; the motion passed on a unanimous vote. Meeting materials were signed by Ray Peterson, Board of Supervisors Chair, and attested by Jennifer Garms, Clayton County Auditor.
