Hancock County supervisors approve hires, audit contract and declare ALS Awareness Month

Hancock County’s Board of Supervisors met in adjourned session May 11 in Garner and unanimously approved a package of routine personnel and administrative items.
On motions carried during the meeting, the board approved hiring Rodney Dodd as summer help in the Secondary Roads Department effective May 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at $27.00 per hour, and authorized a temporary change in position for Cody Paulsen from Maintenance Equipment Operator to Acting Sign Foreman, effective June 1, 2026, at $30.55 per hour. The board also signed terms of service with Fort & Schlegel CPA PC for the audit of financial statements for fiscal year 2025–2026 in an amount not to exceed $26,290.
The board approved a reclassification in the Communications Department, changing the position title from Communications Assistant to Communications Supervisor, effective July 1, 2026, and adopted a proclamation declaring May as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Awareness Month. Supervisors additionally approved salary certifications for fiscal year 2026–2027, to become effective July 1, 2026.
