Staff told the commission that six applicants had confirmed continued interest; commissioners considered that some applicants who did not reply may still be interested and urged that council outreach account for undelivered or spam-filtered emails. The commission noted that some previous December recommendations remain relevant.
Commissioners compiled a preliminary list of candidates to pass along to council for consideration, including Jeff Green (recommended for reappointment), Julia Chamberlain, Peter Maniloff, Strother (last name in packet), Eric (last name in packet), Mark (new application), and Leif (newer applicant with transportation expertise); commissioners said the list is not a ranked order but rather a set of applicants they judged worth further review by council.
The commission also discussed term timing, the potential value of short reappointments to retain institutional knowledge during the LUMO process, and the advisory board policy allowing council to reappoint members for short periods to complete ongoing projects. Staff will package the commission’s recommended names and language for the council packet.
