The Andover Planning Commission voted May 19 to approve the final Planned Unit Development (PUD) for the Hodges 8th subdivision and recommended the governing body accept associated land dedications.
The commission’s secretary, Gary Israel, said the PUD follows a preliminary approval the commission granted months earlier and that the subdivision committee had recommended final approval contingent on any outstanding staff comments being addressed. Phil Meyer, agent for the applicant with Baughman Kemp, told the commission the project will be built in multiple phases of two‑family duplex housing and that the developer and KTA have preliminary agreements in place to transfer a strip of right‑of‑way necessary for the replat.
“Our plan is phased two‑family housing that mirrors what’s already in Hodges 7th,” Meyer said, describing the proposed open space and detention areas and explaining phasing was requested by the project lender.
Staff noted the PUD would replat Hodges 7th together with adjacent parcels to create the larger Hodges 8th complex and that any outstanding staff comments would need to be addressed before the matter goes to city council. David Foley moved to approve the final PUD and to recommend the governing body accept land dedications; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission’s recommendation will be included in a written summary for the governing body’s consideration. The record on the hearing will be retained as required by city procedures.
