The committee also authorized the board president or superintendent to sign required documents.
A presenter described program layouts that will be included in the renovated building: health sciences labs (with simulated hospital beds), cosmetology stations, culinary labs with induction cooking equipment, diesel/marine and auto-tech bays with lifts and paint booth, welding booths with fume extraction, carpentry labs and a conference center sized for about 150 seats. The presenter said finishes will include polished concrete in labs, VCT in classrooms and epoxy in culinary/cosmetology areas.
Board members asked about timing; the presenter said the team hopes to complete work so students can occupy the facility by the August 2027 school year if all goes according to plan. Staff noted the roof replacement work and other site work to deliver a finished building.
Next steps: the committee forwarded the recommendation to the full board and authorized signature authority to complete procurement and begin design/administration steps.
