Board upholds $200 tree‑trimming award, signs commodities contract and reviews volunteer and tax‑aide activity

A resident requested an additional $400 toward tree trimming, noting $400 of trimming work had already been done and submitting a letter describing danger from the tree. Brandi Schwab read the resident’s letter. Board member Linda Hogan moved that the board adhere to the original $200 decision made in November; Gail Eide seconded the motion and it passed. A check for the original $200 award will be written and Brandi will notify the resident.
Board staff signed a specific contract from Area V for commodities distribution, and Brandi noted new requirements from Area V including required signage, distribution of recipes periodically, and an educational nutrition meeting for participants. Commodities served 43 recipients in March.
The board also heard that the AARP Foundation Tax Aide program completed 101 returns for 2025 (and one 2024 return) and that at least 10 people were turned away in the last weeks due to full appointments. The board met the new state coordinator, Shirley ChesterfieldStanton, from Helena and plans an end‑of‑year celebration in Butte on May 16. Volunteer program reporting included three new volunteer matches and a total of 170 volunteer hours recorded.
