Provo council acknowledges tentative FY 2026–27 budgets for city, stormwater and RDA

The Provo City Council and its subsequent boards acknowledged tentative budgets for Provo City, the Stormwater Service District and the Redevelopment Agency for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026, and ending June 30, 2027.

Kelsey Zarrbach, Provo's budget officer, told the council the mayor's proposed budget was submitted last week and that the council had received printed copies for review. "Last week, I presented the tentative budget to the council, and tonight's item is simply an acknowledgment that the mayor's proposed budget was given to the council last week," Zarrbach said. She emphasized that adopting a tentative budget is not final and that the budget process continues through the statutory adoption period in mid-June.

The council took an implied motion to acknowledge the city budget; the motion passed with a recorded tally of 6–0. After adjourning the Municipal Council and convening as the Stormwater Service District Governing Board, the board acknowledged receipt of the stormwater tentative budget (also previously provided) and recorded a 6–0 acknowledgement. The meeting then convened as the Redevelopment Agency (RDA) Governing Board; the RDA board likewise acknowledged receipt of the RDA budget and voted 6–0.

Councilors did not identify changes to specific department-level allocations during these acknowledgements; staff said the tentative budgets would be worked through and refined during upcoming meetings and hearings ahead of final adoption.

The council's acknowledgements leave the tentative budgets open to amendment before final adoption later in the budget calendar.
